Green Pepper Skillet Burgers

Green Pepper Skillet Burgers

Frances Joines, Colona, IL, share's a recipe she and her husband have enjoyed for years. I tasted why!

Serves 6

16 ounces ground 90% lean turkey or beef
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
6 tablespoons (1 1/2 ounces) dried fine bread crumbs
1 3/4 cups (one 15-ounce can) Hunt's tomato sauce*
1/2 cup sliced onion
1 cup coarsley chopped green bell peppers
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Brown Sugar Twin

In a large bowl, combine meat, black pepper, bread crumbs, and 1/4 cup tomato sauce. Using 1/3 cup measure as a guide, form 6 patties. Place patties in a large skillet sprayed with butter-flavored cooking spray. Brown patties on both sides. Add onion and green peppers. Continue cooking 4 to 5 minutes. Stir mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and Brown Sugar Twin into remaining tomato sauce. Pour sauce mixture evenly over top. Lower heat. Cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes.
